from 7 mochoking risk: Lowiron-rich

Pork liver's iron stands out even among meats — but its vitamin levels run high too, so the discipline is small amounts at intervals, not more.

Your food log

How to serve, by age

7–9 mo

Soak fresh liver to clear the blood, cook through, take a small piece and blend to a paste — one small spoon at a time, into cereal or congee.

9 mo+

Liver paste and liver congee, or a little infant-grade liver powder as a flavor base.

Choking risk: Low

Overcooked liver turns firm and crumbly — paste is the dependable form.

If choking ever happens: act immediately — call emergency services (911 in the US) and seek emergency care. Do not wait.

Allergens

Pork Liver is not among the eight most common food allergens (milk, egg, peanut, tree nuts, soy, wheat, fish, shellfish). Any food can cause a reaction in principle — introduce new foods one at a time, during the day, and watch your baby.

Common questions

How often?
Once or twice a week in small amounts is the common practice — organ meat is not for daily large servings. Ask your pediatrician about the specifics.

Practical tips

  • Buy same-day fresh liver; soak in repeated changes of water to draw out the blood.
  • Liver paste mixes into tomato or potato purée to soften its flavor.
