from 7 mochoking risk: Lowcommon allergen

Soft, snipped-short noodles made for babies are a good bridge from sucking swallowing to real chewing. Choose a low-sodium infant noodle.

Your food log

How to serve, by age

7–8 mo

Cook infant noodles until very soft, snip into ½–¾ inch pieces, and serve with the broth.

9–11 mo

Still soft and short, but let your baby pick noodles up by hand — expect thorough mess.

12 mo+

Gradually move from short pieces to slightly longer noodles.

Choking risk: Low

Over-long strands can tangle and gag. Snip before serving; slurping a whole uncut noodle is risky at this stage.

If choking ever happens: act immediately — call emergency services (911 in the US) and seek emergency care. Do not wait.

Allergens

Most noodles are made from wheat (gluten), a common allergen. Start with a small amount and watch for two or three days; for a known wheat allergy, follow your pediatrician's guidance.

Common questions

Can my baby eat adult noodles?
Read the sodium line: adult noodles often run several hundred milligrams per 100 grams — more salt than infant kidneys should process. Choose infant noodles or a clearly low-sodium product.

Practical tips

  • Broken, granule and star-shaped infant noodles suit 7–8 month eaters.
  • Pour off part of the cooking water to mellow the alkaline taste.
